6 Lions who's role could be in danger after the 2024 NFL Draft
Junfu Han-USA TODAY NETWORK

The 2024 NFL Draft has concluded. The Lions walked out with six picks and got some players that can play right away for the Lions. Notably their first two picks Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw.

Now that the draft is over, it's time to start wondering about which current Lions players could be in danger of losing their spot with all these new additions. Here's six players that immediately come to mind.

Khalil Dorsey, Craig James and Kindle Vildor

The Lions doubling down on two of the draft's top cornerbacks makes things interesting for the cornerback room. There's only so many spots that the team can hold at this point. Last year they carried seven into the season. With Carlton Davis, Terrion Arnold, Ennis Rakestraw, Amik Robertson and Emmanuel Moseley all safe, that's likely to leave one spot.

That spot is more than likely going to go to Steven Gilmore. The Lions stashed him on the roster throughout the entire 2023 season and they did that for a reason. Detroit clearly sees something in him and did what they had to do to make sure that nobody else got him.

Craig Reynolds and Zonovan Knight

When the Lions brought in Vaki for a top-30 visit, he only met with Ben Johnson and Scottie Montgomery. So it's clear that the Lions are going to be looking to use him on offense as a running back in addition to being a safety.

That could push Zonovan Knight and Craig Reynolds out at camp since the Lions only carried three running backs into the season last year. Reynolds or Knight could find a spot on the practice squad.

Dan Skipper

I would hate it just as much as you would. It's just hard to overlook the amount of guys that could be in front of him. There's the starting five and then there's rookies Giovanni Manu and Christian Mahogany joining up with other young guys Colby Sorsdal, Kayode Awosika and Connor Galvin. That's 10 players right there.

Every year is different, but the Lions only brought eight lineman into the 2023 season. If they're going to part with two of the guys they have, it's hard to see them doing that with a couple of the younger guys they may see as the future of their offensive line.
